Dear Villagers
Verges, Hedges, Trees, Ditches Maintenance Responsibilities
You will have noted that our village verges and hedges have grown rapidly as a result of the amazing summer resulting in paths and pavements becoming overgrown.
May we ask you please, on behalf of the Parish Council, to help keep your village beautiful and be mindful of your responsibilities for maintenance and care of your verges, hedges, trees and ditches.
This useful diagram helps you to picture what is your responsibility as landowner.
In particular, we would be grateful if you could ensure that any hedges or trees are kept trimmed back behind the line of your ditch or verge. This is especially important on our narrow single-lane roads, where larger vehicles need as much space as possible to pass safely without being forced onto the opposite verge. Regular trimming and maintenance also helps to keep the village looking tidy and welcoming, and reduces the risk of damage to verges and road surfaces.
We greatly appreciate the efforts that residents already make. Your continued support in looking after your boundary areas makes a real difference to the whole community.
With best wishes,
Parish Clerk
